On Saturday, 28th October 2023, the AIDE team took Artificial Intelligence for Education to a whole new level. We conducted the AI-TEACH (Tools for Effective Academic Courses and Holistic Teaching) for kindergarten teachers from the Persatuan Tadika Malaysia or Malaysian Kindergarten Association.
30 teachers, administrators, and preschool industry leaders from across East and West Malaysia attended the workshop conducted by ABTAR KAUR and Ts. Jonathan Kovilpillai, from the Digital Learning Hub of the Asia Pacific University of Technology and Innovation (APU / APIIT). Our lead AI evangelist Vaikunthan Rajaratnam was unable to join us in this session. However, we were encouraged by the attendance of a 74-year-old retired and visually impaired kindergarten teacher who came to “learn what the fuss is all about”.
Workshop attendees were encouraged to use the power of Gen-AI to create children’s stories, lesson plans suited to preschool children, innovative and fun game-based testing, simple and colorful children’s learning videos, and other supplementary resources to engage the children under their care.
From the amazement and wonder exhibited by the teachers upon the completion of the workshop, we know that the teachers will use their newfound skills and knowledge to bring pre-school education to greater heights.
The AI-TEACH module is one of many modules under the AIDE (Artificial Intelligence – Innovative Designs for Education) framework developed by the APU UNESCO Chair. Other modules in this widely encompassing framework include AI-AW (AI Empowered Academic Writing), AI-LD (AI Powered Learning Designs), AI-RE (AI Powered Research), and AI-LEAP (AI Leveraging Efficiency in Administrative Productivity)
