Driving Research and Innovation
The UNESCO Chair at Asia Pacific University has spearheaded various research initiatives under the auspices of the AIDE (Artificial Intelligence for Diverse Education) project and the DLH (Digital Learning Hub).
The AIDE project focuses on integrating emerging technologies like generative AI into education to power personalized and inclusive learning. Some key ongoing AIDE studies include developing an AI competency framework for educators, creating AI-enabled academic writing tools using design thinking, and framing ethical guidelines for deploying AI in Asian educational ecosystems.
The DLH drives investigations into improving open, online and augmented learning through digital platforms. Recent DLH papers have explored topics spanning real-time versus self-paced asynchronous instruction, using virtual reality to enhance imagination and emotional connectivity, digital competency gaps amongst girls in developing countries, and maximizing student learning experience through an integrated framework.
With several published and underway studies, the UNESCO Chair aims to unleash the potential of digital transformation to make education equitable, empowering and accessible for all. The AIDE and DLH projects highlight APU’s strength in harnessing emerging technologies like AI, VR and data analytics for social good.
